Sound and Rhythm

Although, Indus inscriptions do not tell us what the spoken language sounded like, it is evident from some examples that the sound of the words was a factor in the choice of words used.

Inscription number H-40 for example uses repetitive phrases. Another example, M-1792 is constructed to resemble a hawker's cry.
